The Cyclists’ Alliance Faces Urgent Funding Crisis — Calls on Cycling Community to Act

March 4th, 2026 – Today, in the lead up to International Women’s day on March 8th, The Cyclists’ Alliance (TCA), the only independent voice representing women’s professional cyclists, is facing a critical funding shortfall and asking its supporters to donate to a GoFundMe campaign.

For nearly a decade, The Cyclists’ Alliance has played a pivotal role in strengthening the foundations of women’s professional cycling, advocating for fair working conditions, safeguarding rider welfare, and creating pathways for the next generation of talent.

“It is so important to have an independent advocacy group for women in professional cycling. The legal help TCA offers for reviewing athlete contracts, advocating for riders’ in team disputes, and supporting athletes when a team folds are just some of the essential work of the Alliance. As a younger athlete I was stuck in a team dispute in another language that, without TCA’s help, I would not have been able to manage or understand. This independent advocacy group is so important to keep decision-making power in the hands of the athletes.” – Alison Jackson, TCA Rider Council member

Thanks to generous support over the years from sponsors including Strava, BBB, Zwift, Cannondale, Trek, Rapha Foundation, Liv, SRAM, The Cyclists’ Alliance has been able to provide consistent independent support to women’s professional cycling.  TCA is working hard to secure longer term partners, but that takes time. Without immediate financial support, The Cyclists’ Alliance will be forced to cease operations.

Since its founding, The Cyclists’ Alliance has:

  • Supported nearly 100 young women into the professional ranks through its Mentor Programme.
  • Provided free legal advice to more than 400 riders, protecting careers and futures.
  • Helped drive progress on minimum salaries, maternity rights, and improved working conditions across the sport.

In recent seasons, multiple teams have folded, leaving athletes without support or protection. During crises involving teams such as B+B Hotels, Zaaf, Lifeplus Wahoo, and Hess, The Cyclists’ Alliance has provided critical guidance and independent advocacy for affected riders.

As we approach International Women’s Day, this year’s theme is Give to Gain.

If The Cyclists’ Alliance disappears, there will be no independent safety net and no unified, rider-led voice protecting the professional pathway in women’s cycling.

The Cyclists’ Alliance is asking supporters to donate via its GoFundMe campaign and to share the appeal widely within the cycling community. We are also actively seeking new sponsors.

Those who believe in the future of women’s cycling, not just its growth, but its long-term sustainability, are encouraged to act now.
