The Cyclists’ Alliance Launches Symbolic Initiative to Promote Solidarity in Women’s Cycling
The Cyclists’ Alliance (TCA) is marking the start of the 2025 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift with a powerful show of unity. Ahead of Stage 1, TCA will be distributing purple ribbons to riders — a symbolic gesture of collective strength, solidarity, and a shared commitment to a stronger, fairer future for women’s cycling.
TCA President Grace Brown and Vice President Christine O’Connell will personally hand out ribbons before the race on Saturday, inviting all riders to take part. Each ribbon can be worn, passed on, or inscribed with a personal message of support — to be shared with a fellow rider, team staff member, or fan.
“The purple ribbon is a simple but meaningful symbol. When worn together, it becomes a powerful visual display of the unity and collective voice within the women’s peloton,” said TCA Managing Director Deena Blacking.
Participants are encouraged to share photos or messages of support on social media, tagging @thecyclistsallianceand using the hashtags #WeRideTogether or #StrongerTogether.
Connect with TCA in Girona – July 25
Riders and members of the media not at the Tour are invited to connect with The Cyclists’ Alliance team in Girona on Friday, July 25th. TCA Managing Director Deena Blacking and Rider Council member Heidi Franz will be available at Idle Hands Café throughout the morning to hand out ribbons and speak about TCA’s ongoing work in the peloton, and the impact of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
Annual Rider Survey
The results of the 8th edition of TCA’s Annual Rider Survey will be released shortly after the TdFFAZ.
With more than 200 responses, the results of this survey provide unmatched insights into the development of women’s professional cycling – direct from the voice of the riders.
This Purple Ribbon initiative is part of The Cyclists’ Alliance’s mission to empower riders and strengthen the professional women’s cycling ecosystem through unity, advocacy, and rider-driven support.
