The Cyclists Alliance legal team compiled and summarized a list of proposed amendments and changes recently announced by the UCI. TCA is keeping up to date on these changes and engaging with riders and other stakeholders.
The Management Committee of the UCI recently made several decisions regarding race safety. In the presentation below, you can read the new measures and how it will impact racing.
• Introduction of a yellow card system as of 1 August
• Restriction on wearing and using earpieces in races
• Modification of the so-called ‘three-kilometre’ (or ‘sprint zone’) rule
• Simplification of the method for calculating time gaps in stages with a bunch sprint finish
Additionally, changes in the Road Regulations took place as of June 17th, 2024:
• Stage races (2.6.001)
• Bank guarantee more strictly regulated and recorded
• Extra section in contracts with regard to Medical Data
• Transfers and Registrations
Especially the latter are interesting to know!
And last but not least, the UCI introduced the Women ProTeam level as of July 1st, 2024. The main features of these new regulations are very similar to those of the organisation of the Women's WorldTour. However, much is still unclear and details will have to follow.
